Cemetery for Hebrew Confederate Soldiers

The Hebrew Confederate cemetery on Shockoe Hill in Richmond, Virginia, is the one of the only Jewish military cemeteries* in the world outside the state of Israel. The cemetery is maintained by Congregation Beth Ahabah.

Isaac J. Levy, Richmond Blues, and Captain M. Marcus, 15th Georgia, killed October 13, 1864.
 

 

* Reader Dan Mayer has informed us of another Jewish military cemetery in Weißensee, Germany, for Jewish soldiers of the Kaiser's Army who fell in World War I.
